Please use the [Hole] command.
You can fill all holes automatically or manually select specific holes.

Thank you for your prompt response, but it does not work. I do not have a hole within a mesh, I have a simple polygon made by points (more than four) and lines.

If you only have points and lines, you can use the [Object > Fill place surrounded by lines] menu, but this will only generate triangles and quadrilaterals, and will not generate faces with more than five sides.
Faces with five or more sides must be created manually using the [Create] command.
